Thumbs down Medical City parking

fyi, medical city motorcycle parking is 25 pesos, whole day. bikers are required to pay at the parking entrance and they also require the rider's license. i asked bill (guwardiya si bill) whether they also require car drivers to surrender their licenses. bill said no. although i was very sick that time, i refused to give my license. my wife gave her id & asked bill if that's acceptable. bill said ok "this time". ok, got diagnosed with bul*****. went to the information lady and asked why motorcyclists were discriminated upon like that. she called another bill. this bill advised me to talk to somebody in the sikyo office. went down. office still closed 7am. opens at 8. i wasn't going to wait. rode off. going out, i asked for a receipt cause they were just giving stubs w/c riders were supposed to give back when riding out. they gave me a photocopied paper w/ time out and amount paid handwritten on some lines. doesn't look like an official receipt to me. no control number whatsoever. hope they caught my bul*****.
so medical city, why are you being an ******* to bikers? sorry for the long post.

Nakakapikon talaga yun. Medical City deserves a letter of complaint from you being a patient of their hospital... :W

Bro's,
I had the first hand experience of medical city's policy or just ineptess of the security personell. When i had a spill sometime back medical city was the closest hospital i could think of so i went to their emergency room to be treated and i was bleeding from some areas. so i parked sa far end near the structure fronting the emergency dept. thinking not to block any emergency vehicle. know what, they told me that i cant park there, i told him its an emergency and showed my bleedig shirt and still he insisted me to park in the basement. At this point i emphasized my condition and cant travel anymore. Told them to park it themselves. they did. My point is in those situations cant they be more sensitive. i was in an underbone, what if i was riding a big bike?

For security reasons you should never give your drivers license to anyone but the police if they ask for it. You never know if those cashiers or guards are part of a syndicate to copy or make false licenses.

Even in village gates where the guards ask for a license. If you meet an accident inside the village without a license you can still be charged.
Always bring another ID to give out instead. An old college ID would do or a company one.

Pardon my cynicism but because of my recent experience with the PNCC, I would hesitate even giving my license to anyone in uniform. Think twice or even 3x before you even hand it over to a cop or sikyo or what have you. Use your rights and keep that camera phone on standby for those guys who don't know the law and how to enforce it

hmm...what makes an OR official?
-must have a control number
-must show the company name, address and TIN
-must have the words "Offical Receipt"
-must have the name of the printing company, address and TIN somewhere

Bro,

As simple as that! Alam mo naman in this "third world country of ours" wherein power and money rules ( who said we have equal rights???? ), ganyan talaga! Anyways, like what ive said in my previous post. Hehehe!

Sir,
IMHO, minsan kasi over zealous lang ang ibang security personell kaya nagiging overbearing and sometimes implement their own rules. I appreciated what hubris did by trying to clear things first instead of tucking in his tails and running away.
If we follow your advise then we wont know what is the truth in every policy buti kung naka-publish yan sa dyaryo or any publicly accessible reading material.

Yo bro!

Theres no harm in trying, but you see "Medical City" is a private hospital and they have all the means to implement any security measures ( including taking your license for the mean time in exchange for the "priviledge" to park in their turf ). Maaari cguro yang sinasabi mong "Batas" na pwede mong attachment sa complaint mo ay applicable kung Public or Government ang isang establishment or hospital, then by all means "Juan De La Cruz" na nagbabayad ng buwis na may karapatan din sa pag aari ng gobyerno. Magreklamo ka! . Seriously, i love to help a a fellow biker but just what ive said, karaniwan ng naglalabas ng ganyang weird policies ang ibang mga private establishment and I, speaking to you also as a COO of a private security agency, in our experience. They get away with it very easily bec they could always argue that you have an option to transfer to other hospital or bite their bitter pill if you want to stay with them.

As i have said, " Theres no harm in trying"

How do we classify a private parking from a public parking?

When you pay for a service, arent you classfied as a customer?

When you are a customer is there a classification between car driving and motorcycle driving customer?

SM megamall - pay parking rates same as cars, doesnt require submitting license. you want free? park outside in the open parking. with security pa.

Robinsons Galleria - same policy, outside parking security is not confirmed.

Ever Malls Sta. Lucia - Free outdoor Parking, w/ security

Manuela - Pay Parking same policy.

Robinsons Place manila - same policy.

makati public parking - same policy

Robinsons Cainta - Free Parking same policy

medical city ? :F

Yo bro!

All the malls you mentioned, one thing in common. They are all private establishments that caters to the public. With a big "BUT" ! The public( we the people, customers) are subjected to their policies, discretions and all sorts of kaek-ekan. If the mall states that " You follow our guidelines or else. These private entities can even refuse your entry if they perceive that you are not fit to be in their malls. Much different to a government (public) establishment or offices that you can make all sorts of demands and complaints( within boundaries of course) bec they receive their salaries from the taxes you paid.

Exmple of govrnment( public) hospitals- Rizal Medical cnter, Phil General hosp, Muntinlupa General hosp and Ospital ng Maynila.

Private hospitals- Asian hosp, Medical city, Victor Potenciano Medical ctr( Formrly Polymedic) and St Lukes

I hope you understand my point in making demands between a private and public( government) establishments

Sir,
I wasnt treated in the private hospitals you have mentioned but if you are a hospital i believe evrybody is entitled to be treated right? and when you are a patient arent you part of the public? I understand that private and public defines the owners of the establishment. so if you are into the service sector you serve the interest of the public or everyone to be more precise.
All bussiness establishments have their policies and like you said they could demand your removal from their premises, but this is if you are rowdy or commiting an act deterimental to the safety or harmony of the public who patronizes the establishment. Regarding security concerns, they can check your vehicle and this is normal, i havent heard of anybody who protested to this, but tell me a place other than medical city who subjected this kind of discrimination to its patrons.
Do the private Hospitals mentioned have the same policy ?

I'm with Alitaptap. Kung ayaw mo, di huwag. But check it out nonetheless. It maybe all a ruse from the security of Medical City. At the end of the day, you can complain all you want but if it is their rule then there is absolutely nothing you can do.

Everybody has a right to be treated the same way in the hospital. The key word is "in". In my opinion, the main job of a hospital is to treat everyone fairly in terms of medication. They can do what they want with the parking. Btw, even some hospitals don't treat people the same way. I have heard some hospitals that do not give service if you don't have an HMO or a deposit. At the end of the day, the private hospital is a business and it needs money. Talk about receiving proper and equal care. I don't see you complaining about that problem. And you don't have to be a MC rider to be discriminated on. How about those helpless people?

All these places have their own rules and will descriminate if they want to. Have you heard of the "sandos, shorts and slippers are not allowed". It is a policy that a lot of establishments (normally restaurants) adopt. They, of course, want business but they will conduct business the way they see fit, according to their standards. And funny thing is, you are not [b]"rowdy or commiting an act deterimental to the safety or harmony of the public who patronizes the establishment."/B] when you wear sando, shorts and slippers. If you are using that excuse then why don't I see you complaining about that policy? Have you actually complained about it.

If the guards and the staff were rude and harassed you then complain. If they were doing an illegal act then complain. They were not [b]"rowdy or commiting an act deterimental to the safety or harmony of the public who patronizes the establishment."/B] to you. Were they?

I hate what the security has you do in private villages but I do it. I follow their rules in their own place. My father, on the other hand, will not go to any place that will force him to give up his license. That is what he does (until a friend from the private village calls the guard in advance to waive getting his license).

Complain if you must but always remember that they are private institutions. They can do whatever they want within their place. You can't compare one from the other because they all have different sets of people with different sets of rules. At least, there is no discrimination against you as a person.

Regards,
Mike D.

hindi ba illegal yun pagkuha nila sa lisensya mo dahil pulis (belonging to the appropriate agency) lang ang pwede kumuha ng lisensya? i'm not sure but if this is the case then wala silang karapatan i-demand na ibigay mo yung lisensya mo sa kanila para maka-park ka kahit pa private institution sila. kasi nga illegal.

now kung hindi naman e di hwag na lang tayo magpunta sa kanila. their loss.

1. I have heard some hospitals that do not give service if you don't have an HMO or a deposit - Is it Legal? can you name the hospital.
2. Talk about receiving proper and equal care. I don't see you complaining about that problem. - Yes i Dont complain because i was treated there and i dont have an HMO ,me being an OCW, and i Commend the emergency room personnell for services rendered, bumalik pa ako para sa change dressing.
3. And you don't have to be a MC rider to be discriminated on - will you submit your license if they demended it? if you use your MC only?
May dollar account ba kayo sir?
5. Have you heard of the "sandos, shorts and slippers are not allowed". -yes nakakabasa naman po ako and i dont complain that because sino naman po ba ang pupunta ng high end resto's na hindi nakaporma. and BTW i dont see starbucks refusing customers in the above mentioned attire.
6. If they were doing an illegal act then complain. - Duh!
7. I hate what the security has you do in private villages - not all and private na talaga yung mga lugar na yun di ba? you dont go there and pay for services.
8. My father, on the other hand, will not go to any place that will force him to give up his license - he has principle, commendable. but did he do anythng about it?
9. You can't compare one from the other because they all have different sets of people with different sets of rules. At least, there is no discrimination against you as a person - If i Go there in my Crosswind will they get my license? how about if i return with my MC?

Robert

I think it's this kind of attitude that keeps us in a situation where people are not treated equally, when we say, "eh ganyan talaga eh, they discriminate against bikers, so what can we do?"

If everyone thought like this, then all motorcycles would be banned in the expressways, ayala underpass etc... We would all watch idly as the marikina gov bans full face helmets and all the other stupid legislation our lawmakers can think of.

Now for the life of me, I cannot think of a reason why a hospital would descriminate against bikers and ask for our licenses. Is it that they think most bikers are hoodlums and as an added precaution they need to jot down our names and addresses?

I just spend a load full of money in that hospital last dec when my wife gave birth, had I known that they had this kind of policy, I'd have brought her somewhere else.

Talaga namang were not treated equally ah!
DIbah! Dibah!

Peace bossing

well the history (so they say) is that majority of motorcycle riders before probably the influx of scooters is that MC riders are military or police personel and mostly EX-military and EX-police or EX govt. personell ... EX means EXPUNGED from service with cause.

mga scalawags ang nagbibigay ng bad image sa MC . but then again i ALWAYS SEE MEN IN UNIFORM WITH BACK RIDERS AND WITH NO HELMETS. ABOVE THE LAW BA SILA ??????

if there is a bad image of MC riders.... well we can safely say the culprits are those who made history ....

If I remember correctly, a few years ago, MAP along with the Freedom Riders and other clubs were fighting for the rights of ALL MOTORCYCLISTS to be able to use the expressways, and that means even YOUR UNDERBONE (as long as it meets the maximum speed limit, which i'm sure your underbone can do). Even to the extent of bikers having their licenses confiscated on the SLEX as a form of protest.

To our dismay, only a few small displacement bikers seemed to show support for our endevours. So please don't blame me for having a BIG BIKE. I have given my time and effort in fighting for equality among all bikers. Be it small or big displacement bikes. Where were you my friend when the fight for equal rights were going on?

Please check the history of our fight for motorcycle rights in the main page, and maybe you'll have a deeper understanding of how the motorcycle brotherhood works.

Peace brother.

P.S. Yes you're right, sometimes there is no equality, but as long as we have the courage to change the system then there will always be hope.
